We know through evidence and feedback that in each town and city of India there are innumerable rules and regulations like the ones in Law, Liberty and Livelihood that harmfully affect the livelihood opportunities of the poor and compromise on the quality of life of the citizenry. If you are interested, we would like to share the know-how so that you can conduct studies on similar lines in your area. Only knowledge of regulations can help us fight their consequent effects!

1. For educational institutions or student groups

i. Informative Presentation: If you are interested in giving students, faculty or other groups the opportunity of discussing and debating on these issues, invite us over. A 90-minute interactive presentation of the book Law, Liberty and Livelihood, followed by a discussion can be held. This presentation will focus on the findings uncovered in terms of the rules and regulations involved and aim at providing a context for forming informed policy making discussion and decisions.

ii. Research Techniques Presentation: If you are interested in either doing your own research in this subject area, or in knowing more about how to conduct such research, a presentation of the research techniques used in Law, Liberty and Livelihood can be conducted. This workshop is best oriented for students of journalism, documentary making and social research (eg. Economics). Program Sample

iii. Documentary Screening: You are free to screen any of the video's we have as a part of our library database. These include the entries received for Jeevika, the annual livelihood documentary film festival, as well as many other documentaries. Just contact us and we will arrange for this.

For a detailed list of the documentaries, or for conducting a workshop in your institution, please contact us at LLL@ccsindia.org and we will get back to you within three working days.

2. For activists

After the 1991 liberalisation, the poor do not seem to have gained as much as the rich. The truth is there has been hardly any liberalisation for the working poor. For them it has been all LPQ (Licences, Permits and Quotas) and little LPG (Liberalisation, Privatisation and Globalisation). Street entrepreneurs (hawkers, cycle rickshaw pullers, small shop owners and many others) still suffer under the weight of regulations, restrictions and harassment by government and lack basic economic freedom in the areas of their livelihood.

If you want to do something for the street entrepreneurs of India register yourself for the Livelihood Freedom Campaign

If you are interested in knowing more about the reasons of poverty in India other than the conventional ascribed reasons, view the presentation Why is India Poor?

3. For individuals

Research Fellowship and Research Internship Programmes: If you are interested in working on issues like these using tools of social research, and actually make a difference, then join us for a research programme. You can apply for the Research Fellowship or the Research Internship programmes, and if selected, you get to choose your city and your issue to work in. The rewards: a stipend, a certificate and an amazing learning environment. Come, ignite yourself! Do what none has attempted yet, explore issues no one has yet thought about till now. It is all yours.
