Vidhigyan

Kapil’s journey started with CCS in 2001 after participating in the 2nd annual BR Shinoy Memorial essay competition in his junior college. As time passed by he got an opportunity to organize Liberty & Society Seminar for college students in December 2004 at XLRI campus Jamshedpur. The program saw participation by 45 students from all over India. A group of 15 students from St Xavier College Ranchi decided to start Friends of Freedom group within the college campus under his guidance as the state coordinator. Friends of Freedom are youth groups which are formed by CCS Graduates to promote classical liberal ideas amongst students.

In 2006 he joined a 5yr B.A. LLB course under Bangalore University. After joining Law College he realized the need of legal awareness in our society so he decided to start an organization called Vidhigyan. Vidhigyan is a non-profit, registered Trust under Indian Trust Act 1882. It is an independent, research & students’ welfare organization. As the name reflects Vidhi means 'Legal' and Gyan means 'Knowledgein Sanskrit. Hence, the organization aspires to propagate knowledge in the legal field and spread awareness in the society. It aims at social-legal empowerment of our society through various tools. The core functions of the organization include research, advocacy and outreach program to establish an informed and liberal society in India. The focus areas of the organization cover Right to Education, Right to Information, legal awareness and public policy.
