Liberty, Art & Culture Seminars (LACS)

What is LACS?

Ever thought about:  Is ART for the masses? WHO will look after the Taj Mahal? Globalisation: A threat to Indian Culture? Market or State: Who is good for the arts? Are we cultural pessimists or optimists? Liberty & equality: can we have both? Individual & Society: A Conflict? Has our culture become commercial? Are Indians free to express? Censor the Censors? Are businessmen moral? What is creativity?

No? Thats what LACS is about! Getting to look at things differently.  Its not about making you sit and take down notes.  LACS is a four-day residential seminar exclusively for students or recent graduates of media, literature, performing & creative arts to provide a greater understanding of the society and culture, within the classical liberal framework that emphasises limited government, rule of law, free trade, and individual rights.

Its a platform to explore ideas in a rigorous four days through working Groups where YOU do the talking/ field exercises: Get to know the REAL thing/ documentary screenings & interactive discussions with Filmmakers & Experts/ chit-chat over coffee and food!

About 45 students are selected through an application process.  Participants will bear travel costs to the venue.  Room & board will be provided by CCS!
